Creating a new version

Versions can be created for SNOMED CT, ATC, LOINC, Mapping sets, Local code systems and value domains. Reference sets and map type reference sets can not be versioned separately, since they are part of a SNOMED CT version. When versioning mapping sets, local code systems or value domains, the versioning applies to all content. For example, if you are creating a mapping set version, all mapping sets in the view are versioned, it's not possible to version mapping sets separately.

To create a version, verify that all changes are saved. Go to'' Tools > Create'' version, or use the toolbar button to bring up the wizard. Enter a unique version name and a description. If applicable, existing versions are displayed in the bottom section.

Specifying version name and description

Use the calendar icon to specify a publication date. By default the current date is displayed. Click Next to proceed.

Selecting a SNOMED CT release

Please note that you can only specify a date that is later than the (date of the latest) previous version. An error message will inform you in this case (see screenshot). It's not possible to create two versions with the same date.

Verification of valid effective time

You are now presented with a summary of unversioned components. These are components that were modified since the last publication. They will be updated during the versioning process by changing the effective time from Unpublished to the specified publication date. Components that were not modified will not be updated and keep the original publication date. Click Next to start the versioning process.
